Western Hockey League prospects draft taking place Thursday

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The WHL prospects draft is taking place this Thursday at 10am MST for 2008 born players.

The first, second and seventh overall picks go to the Prince Albert Raiders of Edmonton.

The Medicine Hat Tigers hold the ninth selection spot overall due to making playoffs last season.

Last year, the Medicine Hat Tigers selected Gavin McKenna from Whitehorse, Yukon as the first overall pick.

The pick paid off, as McKenna was named the WHL Rookie of the Month in March.

McKenna was also the winner of the U18 Prep Division MVP Award. He led the league with 37 goals, 38 assists and 75 points in 26 games.
