‘High-risk’ incident ends without injury
MEDICINE HAT, AB – One man faces various firearms and weapons charges after he was arrested during a high-risk incident on the Southwest Hill on Tuesday night.
Police say they had identified a man wanted on several criminal code offences and attended a home in the 300 block of 11th Street SW. The male would not exit the home on his own and eventually the MHPS Tactical Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were able to apprehend the 32-year-old man without incident or injury.
He is awaiting a bail hearing on Wednesday and therefore police have not released the man’s name.
The incident happened in the same block where a man was arrested the previous week in relation to a pair of homemade pipe bombs found in the city. The two incidents are not related and involve two different people, says MHPS Staff Sgt. Jason Graham.
