MEDICINE HAT — Researchers and those with just a passing curiosity in the history of Medicine Hat, will be able to take advantage of a revamped Collections Online Catalogue at the Esplanade Archives.

The portal has been around in some form for several decades, but a revamped user interface and a new look is more colourful, with different search options to help people quickly find what they’re looking for, or to discover new things.

Archivist Philip Pype says he’s very glad they’ve been able to make this upgrade available to the public.

“It’s something we’ve been working towards for a number of years. It presents to the public a lot of the resources and efforts that volunteers and staff have worked on for many years,” says Pype.

“There are a number of features that previously weren’t available that overtime we will continue to add to so that it can continue to grow as a resource for the community,” adds Pype.

The Archive Reference services at the Esplanade are also available to the public from Tuesday to Friday, between noon and 5 pm.

While it’s not necessary to make an appointment, it may save time to call ahead.
