Rattlers honour top student-athletes

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat College Rattlers recently handed out its year-end awards to its student-athletes.

Cross-country/indoor track runner Becky Ross was chosen as the female athlete of the year.

According to the Rattlers Facebook page, Ross was an All-Canadian, an Academic All-Canadian, Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference cross-country and Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference indoor track rookie of the year, cross-country gold medalist, and indoor track 3000m gold medalist, and a two-sport All-Conference All-Star.

Ross also won the female rookie of the year award.

Basketball player Cooper Ward took home the male athlete of the year honour. He led the nation in scoring and rebounding and was a first-team ACAC all-star, the Rattlers posted.

Ethan Robinson of the basketball team was named male rookie of the year. He was also named ACAC men’s basketball rookie of the year for the south.

The team of the year award went to the cross-country/indoor track team.
