Man arrested in possession of loaded, sawed-off rifle in front of Crescent Heights store
MEDICINE HAT, AB – A man is facing charges following a weekend incident in which he allegedly confronted people while in possession of a loaded firearm.
According to Medicine Hat Police Services, officers responded to a strip mall at 20th Street and Seventh Avenue NE at about 8 p.m. on Sunday after reports of a person acting recklessly and confronting people in a threatening manner. Police say after approaching a customer inside a store the man followed the customer outside and flash his waistband to show what officers later confirmed was a loaded, sawed-off 22-calibre rifle.
Police say the suspect was taken into custody without incident and the firearm was seized. Investigation determined the man has been reportedly driving recklessly in the area earlier in the evening.
The suspect is awaiting a bail hearing on several firearms and weapons charges.
