MEDICINE HAT, AB – The 2023 edition of the Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services Rooftop Campout raised more than $15,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

On Friday afternoon firefighters Dylan Gejdos and Brandon Debler climbed to the roof of Fire Station No. 2 on Trans-Canada Way. They spent the weekend on the roof as people stopped by the station to donate to the cause.

“We’re thrilled to be able to contribute to a great cause that directly impacts the lives of thousands of Canadians, including our own Hatters who are living with neuromuscular disorders,” says firefighter Dylan Gustafson, also the local charity coordinator.

When all was said and done $15,204.50 was raised from in-person donations and online. Gustafson says the people, businesses and other emergency service personnel that came out to donate kept everyone going through the chilly weekend.
