Brooks Bandits start title defence tonight
BROOKS, AB – After a long layoff the Brooks Bandits open their Alberta Junior Hockey League postseason tonight.
The two-time defending Inter Pipeline Cup champions host the Okotoks Oilers Friday and Saturday. Brooks won the regular season title for the sixth time in team history with a 53-5-2 record and earned a first-round bye for the playoffs. The Oilers swept the Camrose Kodiaks in the first round.
The Bandits swept the six-game regular season series against Okotoks. The last time the Bandits and Oilers met in playoffs was the 2022 South Division Final, won by the Bandits in four games.
Forward Aiden Fink was a big part of the Bandits success this year. He won th AJHL Most Valuable Player Award and the Top Forward Award and ended the regular season as the scoring champion after recording 41 goals and 56 assists for 97 points.
