Spectrum Festival needs volunteers for 30ish anniversary

Mar 22, 2023 | 5:27 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The success of a festival often depends on the help of the hundreds or even thousands of volunteers who work behind the scenes.

The Medicine Hat Spectrum Festival will be celebrating 31 years in June, and the organizers are preparing an even grander show than last year.

And to put it on, they’re looking for your help.

Currently, the organizers are looking for more board members and volunteers.

In terms of time commitment, Justin Wright, the president of Spectrum Festival, says board members generally attend one meeting per month.

But two months before the festival, meetings switch from bi-weekly to weekly, to put the finishing touches on the festival.

Wright says the board wants to respect everyone’s time as much as possible, but they do need help preparing three days of entertainment, culture and community.

“When you’re running a 3-day festival with 7,000 to 10,000 people, the more, the merrier. Right now we’re running with a board of six people, and then we have volunteers that jump on for the festival. With that, we’re always looking for great new leaders to come alongside and help make the festival from good to great,” said Wright.

There is no deadline to apply as a board member or volunteer.

Spectrum Festival will happen this year on June 2nd to 4th at Kin Coulee Park.
