SEVEN PERSONS, AB. — Two people lost their lives in a crash on Highway 3 near Seven Persons last night.

Redcliff RCMP, Cypress County fire and EMS were called to the crash site around 8 p.m. Monday night.

Redcliff RCMP Staff Sgt. Michael Courty says initial reports indicate that a pick up truck driving east on Highway 3, crossed the centre line and collided head on with a west bound semi truck.

Both occupants of the pick up truck, a 79-year-old male and a 73-year-old female from Medicine Hat, were declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

The initial investigation indicates there was no adverse weather in the area at the time of the mishap.

Highway 3 was closed overnight to allow for the RCMP collision reconstructionist to conduct their investigation and to remove the vehicles and debris from the crash scene.
