Matrix earn silver at U16B ringette provincials
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat’s U16B Matrix took it to the limit for the home crowd but in the end settled for a silver medal at provincials this weekend.
The Matrix were undefeated through three round-robin games and their first two playoff games. That set up the championship showdown, a rematch of the tournament opener between the Matrix and the Pembina Pursuit won 4-0 by the Matrix.
The Pursuit got their revenge winning a 7-6 barnburner that went back and forth. Jordy Provost scored twice and Mackenzie Tindall. Ericka Want, Grace Ammann and Bella Heinrichs each had singles.
“The Matrix finished second in the province out of 12 teams and the coaches could not be more proud of the way the Matrix played this season and especially in provincials,” writes parent Elisha Ammann. “The team would like to thank the Matrix fans, Provincials host committee and to the MHRA for a great weekend. One to be remembered for years to come.”
