Driver fined nearly $1,000 for allegedly speeding past southern Alberta RCMP officer

MILK RIVER, AB – The Milk River RCMP is reminding drivers that they must slow down when passing stopped emergency vehicles.

On Feb. 22, the police service says an officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 4 near Warner and had the cruiser’s emergency lights activated. According to the RCMP, a vehicle passed the officer without reducing its speed or moving over to the other lane.

According to a news release from Milk River RCMP, the vehicle narrowly missing colliding with the officer.

A 30-year-old man from Ontario was issued a violation ticket under Section 115(2)(t) of the Traffic Safety Act for exceeding the speed limit while passing a stopped emergency vehicle or tow truck when its flashing lamps are operating.
