Canadiens forward Dvorak out for the season following knee surgery

Mar 15, 2023 | 3:09 PM

MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens are down another body after forward Christian Dvorak underwent season-ending knee surgery Wednesday.

Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes said in a statement that the procedure was performed in New York and Dvorak is expected to make a full recovery before the start of next season.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played since Montreal’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on March 7.

Dvorak put up 10 goals and 18 assists in 64 games for the Habs this season.

Originally selected by Arizona in the second round of the 2014 draft, the six-foot-one, 193-pound native of Palos, Ill., was dealt to Montreal for draft picks in September 2021.

Injuries have plagued the Canadiens this season, and the team’s injured-reserve list currently includes forwards Cole Caufield (shoulder), Jake Evans (lower body), Brendan Gallagher (lower body), Sean Monahan (foot) and Juraj Slafkovsky (lower body) and defenceman Aber Xhekaj (upper body).
