MEDICINE HAT, AB – Andrew Basha led the Medicine Hat Tigers to a dominant 7-0 win over the Regina Pats at Co-op Place on Saturday.

Basha recorded four goals in the Medicine Hat victory, potting his first WHL hat-trick 5:59 into the final frame when he fired a wrist shot past the glove of Regina goaltender Drew Sim, in front of 6,405 fans.

With the victory, Medicine Hat improves to 27-26-8-1 on the year, Regina falls to 31-27-3-1. The Tigers remain in seventh in the Eastern Conference with 63 points, the Pats stay in sixth with 66.

The Pats were held to just 17 shots on goal, with Alexander Suzdalev recording four. Medicine Hat goalie Beckett Langkow turned aside all 17 shots on goal for his first career WHL shutout.

It was a night of firsts for the Tigers, Gavin McKenna cashed in with his first career WHL goal 6:26 into the third, when he fired a wrist shot top shelf.

Basha’s four goal night was the first of his career, he’s up to 19 goals and 36 assists on the year, second on the Tigers in points with 62.

“It was amazing, especially doing it in front of all the fans,” said Basha post-game.

“It was a good night and my teammates just fed me the puck, so it was all them.”

With the win, the teams wrap up their head-to-head matchups this season, with the Tigers earning wins in three of four. Up next for Medicine Hat, they’ll head to Edmonton to take on the Oil Kings on Friday. The Pats return home for a date with the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday.
