Pregame: Pats at Tigers

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Tonight could be the last chance for Hatters to see The Connor Bedard Show in-person without paying NHL ticket prices.

The Western Hockey League superstar makes his second scheduled visit of the regular season to Medicine Hat tonight. His time at Co-op Place will be up barring a meeting between the Tigers and Bedard’s Regina Pats in the playoffs.

The Tigers (26-26-8-1) come into tonight’s game losers of two in a row for the first time since the end of January. The Tabbies lost 3-1 to the Winnipeg Ice and 2-0 to the Brandon Wheat Kings on the road this week.

Medicine Hat is 2-1 in three previous meetings with the Pats (31-26-3-1) this jseason, losing 6-3 in the most recent contest Feb. 22 in Regina. While the Tigers have won two of three, Bedard has lit up the Tigers for five goals and five assists in the three games. Tigers Oasiz Weisblatt and Bogdans Hodass each have two goals and four assists against the Pats this season. The Tigers’ Gavin McKenna, the top pick in the 2022 WHL Prospect Draft ad possibly the league’s next superstar, put up two assists in his only game against the Pats this season.

The seventh-place Tigers are chasing the Pats for sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, currently four points behind with one more game played. In the rearview, the Swift Current Broncos, Calgary Hitmen and the Wheat Kings are all within three points of the Tigers with just two weeks left in the regular season.

All seats are sold for tonight’s game but overflow tickets are still available. To alleviate parking problems at Co-op Place free buses will run from the Medicine Hat Mall and Big Marble Go Centre between 5 and 6 p.m. Return transportation will be available after the game.
