Trial date set for Cypress County woman accused of murdering husband

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A Cypress County woman will stand trial next January in the death of her husband.

Three weeks have been reserved for the trial of Deborah Belyea, starting on Jan. 8, 2024.

She is charged with second-degree murder and causing an indignity to a human body.

Her husband, former Cypress County councillor Alfred Belyea was found deceased on Oct. 15, 2021.

He had been missing from the couple’s Suffield home for a week before his body was found.
