MEDICINE HAT, AB — A system that’s partly fuelled by moist Pacific air is forecast to make things miserable for areas close to the Canada – U.S. border today.

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for regions of southern Alberta south of Calgary, with a winter storm warning for the Cypress Hills and Foremost district.

In Saskatchewan, heavy snowfall warnings are posted along with blizzard warnings further east near Regina, Assiniboia, Weyburn and Fort Qu’Appelle.

Heavy snow with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected.

Snow will begin this morning and continue into tomorrow. The heaviest snow will fall this afternoon and continue through the night.

Locally poor visibility is also possible due to blowing snow, especially over open areas.

The storm will pass by tomorrow afternoon and there are temperatures above freezing in the forecast for Medicine Hat starting on Monday.
