I scream, you scream: Swirls is open for the season

MEDICINE HAT, AB – You know spring is coming soon in Medicine Hat when the open sign goes on and staff start scooping at Swirls Ice Cream.

People were quick to get in line on March 3 for their favourite Arctic Swirls, milkshakes, and ice cream. It’s been a long wait for some.

“January 2nd we get emails on when we’re going to open,”says manager Abby LaRochelle. “February we start getting more active on Instagram and Facebook. We really try to reach out to the community, just keep them involved throughout the whole winter.”

One of the items people are craving over the winter is the Cookie Dough Arctic Swirl, LaRochelle says.

She adds that’s good but she suggests a twist on it.

“A Cookie Dough-Skor Arctic Swirl,” she says, “because you can mix flavours.”

Right now you can get your Swirls fix at the flagship Division Avenue location and Co-op Place during events. Later this spring and summer the location at Elkwater Leake will be open and the mobile truck will be around the community, including at Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Swirls is open 1-9 p.m. every day until the end of October.
