Cubs advance to South Division finals

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Cubs are four wins away from advancing to the Heritage Junior Hockey League FInals.

After earning a 9-0 blowout victory over the Cochrane Generals in game six of their series, Medicine Hat is set to take on the Okotoks Carstar Bisons in the South Division finals for a second straight season.

The Cubs finished the regular season second in the South, defeating Cochrane in six games. Meanwhile, Okotoks finished first in the division, sweeping the Strathmore Wheatland Kings in four games.

In four meetings this year, the Carstar Bisons defeated the Cubs three times, outscoring them 18-13. Throughout the playoffs, Okotoks has a goal differential of +12, Medicine Hat is +10.

The Cubs will meet the Carstar Bisons in game one of their high stakes best-of-seven playoff series on Wednesday in Okotoks at 8:00pm.
