MEDICINE HAT, AB – A date hasn’t been set for the release of the federal budget but it should be tabled sometime this spring. Before that, MP Glen Motz wants budget input from constituents.

The Conservative Party of Canada representative for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner launched his annual budget surveys this week.

He says it’s critically important to hear from constituents on how the rising cost of living and inflation is impacting them and then what they think priorities need to be moving forward.

“I think what it does for constituents, for businesses, for municipalities is I’m there to serve them. That’s my role as a member of parliament and so having a better indication or perspective of what actually the needs are helps me go back to Ottawa and demand those thing from government,” he says.

There are three surveys, one for individuals, one for business owners and one for municipal leaders.

Motz says he uses the data gathered for statements in the House of Commons to tell the government how constituents are impacted.

“The other thing that my office has used it for is to get a good gauge of where people are at in the community,” he explains. “We as Conservatives plan forming the next government we can look at what really will impact and have a positive impact on Canadians.”
