Pregame: Broncos at Tigers
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Swift Current Broncos have had the better of the Medicine Hat Tigers so far this season. Every game has been close but the Tigers have still won just one of the five games.
The Tigers scored a 5-4 shootout victory on Jan. 18 in Swift Current. The other four games have seen the Broncos win two in regulation and two in overtime.
The two teams are in a dogfight for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Tigers (24-23-8-1) have 57 points and sit seventh, with the Broncos (26-27-1-2) in ninth with 55 points. The Calgary Hitmen are eighth with 56 points while the Brandon Wheat Kings and prince Albert Raiders aren’t far behind with 52 and 51 points, respectively.
Andrew Basha cracked the 50-point barrier in the Tigers’ 7-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday and leads the Tabbies in scoring on 14 goals and 36 assists.
