Cubs lose lead in third, down 1-0 to Generals in second-round series

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Cubs will have to play from behind to advance past the second round of the Heritage Junior Hockey League playoffs.

Holding a 5-3 lead late in the second period, the Cubs were unable to hold off the Cochrane Generals. They scored late in the second and twice more in the third to defeat the Cubs 6-5 in Game 1 of the second-round series.

Cooper Hilworth, Colby Friedrich, Levi Schlosser, Kyle Woolridge and Connor Douglas all found the back of the net for the Cubs. Kellen Bojic gave up three goals on 12 shots before giving way to Mark Peddle, who gave up three goals on 13 shots.

The teams are back at it for Game 2 Friday at the Kinplex. Game 3 is on Saturday in Cochrane.
