INNISFAIL, AB – The RCMP is asking children across the country to help name the latest litter of prospective police pups.

There are 13 German Shepherd puppies at the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta needing names.

The RCMP Name the Puppy Contest is now open for submissions. Children between the ages of four and 14 can send in suggestions for names that begin with the letter “S.” The name must be one or two syllables and contain no more than nine letters.

Youths who have their submitted names chosen will receive a laminated 8×10 photo of the dog they named, a plush dog named Justice, and an RCMP water bottle.

Contest winners and the winning names will be announced on April 6.

Submissions can be made online at the RCMP website.
