Canadian skier Alexander claims downhill bronze in impressive world championship debut
COURCHEVEL, France — Cameron Alexander’s impressive result in his first world championship race was no surprise to teammate James Crawford.
Alexander, from North Vancouver, B.C., finished in one minute 47.94 seconds, 0.89 seconds behind winner Marco Odermatt of Switzerland, to take the bronze medal in Sunday’s men’s downhill at the alpine skiing world championships.
It was Canada’s second medal of the worlds after Crawford won the super-G earlier this week.
Alexander was competing in his first race at a major championship.
