LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 36-year-old Lethbridge man has learned his fate after being convicted of committing a series of sexual assaults.

In Lethbridge Provincial Court on Monday, February 6, 2023, Sohil Bindra was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of charges including sexual assault, causing or administering a stupefying or overpowering drug, housebreaking to commit a sexual assault, and possession of a controlled substance.

In May 2022, Bindra was found guilty of these charges after three women were sexually assaulted between March 2018 and February 2020. The names of the victims cannot be released due to a court-imposed publication ban.

Each of the women testified in court that they were offered drinks by Bindra at local nightclubs. All of the victims said they passed out after consuming the beverages and were sexually assaulted. Bindra denied all accusations.

Bindra was arrested and charged in March 2020, and he has been held in custody since then. The judge granted credit for time served, which is just over four years, calculated at 1.5 days for each day spent in custody.

Following the sentencing hearing, Bindra will remain behind bars for another eight years.
