Intimate Esplanade setting fits Ellen Doty’s jazz stylings
MEDICINE HAT, AB – A jazz musician who says her music is accessible for the non-jazz fan will be on stage at the Esplanade tonight and you can be there too to dip your toe into the sound.
Ellen Doty says the up-close and personal nature of the On-Stage Series fits her musical style, and that chatting with people at shows is one of her favourite parts of touring.
“I really like to interact with the audience as part of the show and being able to do that in an intimate setting makes it a lot more fun,” she says. “And just being able to share music with people in that close setting and seeing what their reaction is to the songs and the music is really impactful for me as a performer.”
Doty will perform original songs from her album Come Fall and her upcoming album she’ll soon be in the studio to record as well as her take on jazz standards by legends like Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald
