Man charged following weapons complaint at local motel

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A 44 year old man is facing charges after Medicine Hat police responded to a weapons complaint at the Sun Dek Motel on Saturday.

Police received information that a domestic-related altercation had occurred involving a firearm.

After ensuring the female victim was safely removed from the area, officers set up containment. With the assistance of MHPS negotiators, the male suspect was safely apprehended.

The MHPS Criminal Investigation Section completed further investigation and a search of the room resulted in a rifle, ammunition and replica firearm being located.

The man is facing the following charges:

He is being held in custody until his next court appearance on Jan. 10.
