Police release video of missing woman last seen in Crescent Heights

Jan 5, 2023 | 12:59 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – City police have released surveillance footage of a woman missing for almost a week in a further attempt to locate her.

Medicine Hat Police Service says Jennifer Chemelli-Magnus was last seen on video walking eastbound on 20th Street NE towards Eighth Avenue NE on Dec. 30, at 6:40 p.m.

Staff Sgt. Jason Graham, in charge of the MHPS criminal investigation unit, says police don’t believe anything is suspicious at this time but do have serious concerns about Chemelli-Magnus given the length of time she’s been missing.

“Anything and everything we’re looking at right now including maybe some medical distress that she could have been under,” Graham says. “We know that Jennifer has limited mobility and because of that we are thinking that there’s a potential that she could be in and around the area in that Crescent Heights neighbourhood.”

In the video, she is wearing a black bomber styler jacket, black and white (snakeskin pattern) leggings, black knee-high mukluks with tassels, a white scarf, a black shoulder-style purse and carrying a black single-use plastic bag.

MHPS has conducted and is still currently organizing several searches for Chemelli-Magnus with South Eastern Alberta Search and Rescue as well as HALO air support.

Police ask anyone living in and around the area Chemelli-Magnus was last seen – 20th Street and Eighth Avenue NE – to conduct a thorough check of their properties and notify MHPS of anything that may appear suspicious or concerning in nature.

Bradley Kiefer update

Police are also continuing to search for a Medicine Hat man missing since October.

Graham says police are still actively looking for Bradley Kiefer but “unfortunately we don’t have any new information.”

It is believed that Kiefer left his residence, most likely on foot, on the 200 block of Fifth Street SE on Oct. 16.

Kiefer is described as five-foot-eleven and 200 pounds with an athletic build. It’s not clear what he may have been wearing.

Anyone with information about Chemelli-Magnus or Kiefer is asked to call police at 403-529-8481.
