Mavericks hire head coach for 2023 season

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Mavericks have found their new bench boss.

The team announced today that Mark Goodman will be the head coach for the upcoming season.

Goodman comes to Medicine Hat from Colorado School of Mines, where he’s been an assistant coach with the Orediggers since 2021.

Goodman has almost two decades of coaching experience following five years of playing professional ball at the independent level, which included striking out the great Ricky Henderson in his pro debut.

The Mavericks open the 2023 season in Lethbridge on May 26, with the home opener set for the next day at Athletic Park.

Goodman takes over from Tyler Jeske, who spent one season at the helm and led the Mavericks to an 18-38 regular season. The Mavs upset the division-winning Regina Red Sox in the first round of the playoffs before falling to the Moose Jaw Miller Express in the East Division final.
