Snow and freezing temperatures make for a poor travel day

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A six-degree drop in temperature, followed by the arrival of snow, has made driving conditions challenging again this morning.

The snow came a few hours after light rain, and that means there’s ice underneath.

All highways in and out of Medicine Hat are icy with snow covered sections and some black ice.

Travel is not being recommended on Highway 41 north from Golden Prairie as far north as Oyen.

CHAT News has received a report of an accident on Highway 3 between Grassy Lake and Taber. The caller says they were stopped for about 45 minutes around 11 a.m. but traffic is once again moving slowly.

The snow is expected to end at Medicine Hat this afternoon, with between 2 to 4 cm of accumulation.
