Premier Scott Moe says Saskatchewan is a Prairie leader, plans to run in next election

Dec 23, 2022 | 9:25 AM

REGINA – Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says he will be running in the next provincial election that is slated for 2024.

Moe says he’s hoping to turn Saskatchewan into a western leader for decades to come.

He says he wasn’t always trying to be hand-in-hand with Alberta, even before Premier Danielle Smith took the helm of that province.

But he believes in the past year Saskatchewan has emerged as a Prairie leader on several fronts, including provincial autonomy and investments in sustainable energy.

Moe says it’s not about trying to stand out from one province or another.

But he says he will do what it takes to grow the provincial economy and the quality of life residents.

As the longest-serving current premier among the provinces and territories, Moe describes himself as the quote old dog in the pound.

Some polls have shown that he’s more popular than the country’s 12 other premiers.
