Christmas miracle reunites Robbie Rotten and owner

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Nova Scotia woman is calling Hatters angels and that the word gratitude isn’t enough after two Christmas miracles in less than one week.

It all started in June when Melissa Zizek’s cat Robbie Rotten ran away from her family in Medicine Hat. They stopped in the city on a cross-Canada drive as the family was moving from Vancouver Island to Halifax.

She connected with people here who watched for Robbie and just before Christmas he was found. Zizek had plans to get Robbie on Jan. 8 cargo flight but hoped to see him before Christmas.

“We’re looking into options like if there’s somebody who just happens to be already flying to Nova Scotia you know or driving even,” she said last week. “I figure this time of the year not so many people are taking that leap but like who knows you just never know and just sort of like some help. Even if we can get him part of the way or we can find foster parents to take him in between.”

Medicine Hat’s Carrie Longbottom drove Robbie to Calgary to meet with a friend who was flying to Nova Scotia. The reunion happened on Monday evening.

On Facebook, Zizek says Longbottom and her friend are angels and thanks everyone else who watched for Robbie and helped get him home.
