Man in custody, facing charges following altercation with former partner
MEDICINE HAT, AB – A 54-year-old man is in custody after an altercation that involved a weapon and resulted in a woman sustaining minor injuries.
According to Medicine Hat Police Service, they responded to a home on Southlands Boulevard SE on Dec. 19 at about 6:30 a.m. after a report that a woman was injured during an altercation with a former partner.
Police say that when they responded the man threatened them with a weapon as well. After several hours of negotiation and with assistance of the MHPS Tactical Team, he was safely taken into custody without injury.
The man is currently held in custody awaiting a bail hearing and therefore his name can not be released at this time. he has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of uttering threats and possession of a dangerous weapon, as well as two counts of breach of probation.
