Police service warn of increased scams and frauds during holiday season
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Christmas is just over a week away, but police are warning residents of scams and frauds which tend to increase during this time of year.
Sgt. Adam Gregory of the community support unit with the Medicine Hat police service says with the amount of purchases over the holidays, more people are taking advantage of those who are spending their hard earned money.
“At Christmas time, we all feel a little bit more stressed; there’s lots going on, we’re doing lots of things with our money that we earned and we’re buying gifts and we’re going out and we’re spending,” Gregory says. “So the risk of identity fraud increases as well.”
