Desjardins credits players, coaches upon 400th win as Tigers coach
MEDICINE HAT, AB – When the final buzzer sounded on Saturday night at Co-op Place the 6-3 win for the Medicine Hat Tigers over the Moose Jaw Warriors wasn’t just another victory. It was a historic one, giving head coach Willie Desjardins 400 wins as the head coach of the Tigers.
As usual, though, his mind was on the ice and not the record book.
“Through the game, I didn’t even know and it was just you know when the game was over and I went over to shake {assistant coach} Josh Maser’s hand I could tell there was something different like the way he was looking at me I was like ‘oh there’s something different about this win,'” Desjardins said on Monday. “And then it clicked in that it was 400, so it was good. But it wasn’t something I was dwelling on, for sure.”
