Tigers dumped 5-2 by Rebels

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A pair of late goals in the first period proved to be the Medicine Hat Tigers’ undoing on Wednesday night in Red Deer.

The Tabbies kept the Rebels off the scoresheet for most of the opening frame, but goals by Kai Uchacz and Christoffer Sedoff at 17:45 and 18:21 of the opening frame sent the Rebels on their way to a 5-2 victory.

The division-leading Rebels kept their foot on the gas in the second period. Jace Isley scored on a penalty shot just 59 seconds into the second, and Jayden Grubbe and Kai Uchacz tallied before the midway point.

In the third, Brayden Boehm scored his 10th of the season and Brendan Lee nabbed his team-leading 16th, giving the team something to build off of heading into two games this weekend.

The loss snaps the team’s three-game road winning streak and leaves head coach Willie Desjardins at 399 wins behind the Tigers bench.

The Tigers will take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the windy city on Friday before hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors at Co-op Place on Saturday.
