Interactive map: see the holiday lights and the holiday sights

MEDICINE HAT, AB – You don’t have to drive more than a couple of blocks in our community to see houses that has decked the halls, walls and lawn in holiday spirit.

Back again in 2022 is the Holiday Lights Map.

“It’s actually really great for the community to come together and provide a way for people to enjoy the holiday season, sometimes without getting out of their cars because it is really cold,” says local Pattison Media digital coordinator Olivia Thorington. “But just to get into the festive spirit, to engage and connect with everybody in the community is a really great opportunity.”

Thorington says the interactive Google map has close to 100 houses all over Medicine Hat and in Redcliff, Desert Blume and Dunmore.

Sponsored by Davis GMC, the map will help guide you and your sleigh to see as many festive displays as you can. The map grew out of a Facebook group started in 2021 by former MY96 host Shaun O’Neill.

“It’s totally interactive, you can select different neighbourhods here in Medicine Hat and the surrounding areas and get directions which is very helpful for people like me,” Thorington says with a laugh.

“We really wanted to have it all in one place and to have to manually type all these addresses into your phone or your computer is really tedious especially when there are a hundred houses that you could possibly visit. So just being able to go look at a different part of the city, click on that address, head there is so much easier.”

Once again the map can be found on the home page at chatnewstoday.ca. While there you can also submit your home to be added.
