Annual Teddy Bear Toss game returns this weekend

Dec 1, 2022 | 2:20 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Blades and Tigers and bears, oh my.

Saturday night’s Medicine Hat Tigers game against the Saskatoon Blades is the annual Teddy Bear Toss game.

Fans are encouraged to bring new and bagged stuffed animals or winter gear such as toques, gloves and scarves to the game. When the Tigers score their first goal you let the fur fly and fill the ice with the items by tossing them from the stands.

“Obviously it’s a pretty cool experience, it’s for a good cause so we’re all looking forward to it and it’s going to be a good time,” says Tigers defenceman Reid Andresen. “Hopefully it’s pretty early obviously but I guess we’ll see as the game goes on and hopefully we can get a quick one.”

Once gathered from the ice, the donations will be split between the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation, the Salvation Army, the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society and the Santa Claus Fund.

The game starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are still available.

If you can’t make it you can hear all the action live on Wild 94.5 with voice of the Tigers Gino De Paoli.
