Nov 25, 2022 | 12:08 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers play the first of back-to-back-to-back games Friday, hitting the road to face the Red Deer Rebels.

The Tabbies have had one prior contest against the Rebels this season back on Oct. 21, that ended with a 4-2 score in favour of Red Deer.

Cayden Lindstrom was the star of that contest for Medicine Hat, scoring both goals for his team.

Headed into tonight the Rebels have been on a slide as of late, losing six of their last seven. Their most recent loss was to the Brandon Wheat Kings, who the Tigers are 2-0 against this year.

Although struggling they have been struggling, Tigers associate coach Joe Frazer says his team still needs to be prepared to face a really good hockey team.

“It’s a tough building to play in, they’re a great team and it’s a tough trip. They have lost a couple in a row, and they had the week off so you know they practiced hard. You know they’re gonna come out flying so gotta make sure we get off the bus and are starting on time.”

Speaking to how his team is preparing to handle three games in three days, Frazer says the key is to make sure they are using all four lines each night.

“It just starts with playing four lines and making sure everyone is rolling. That’s been a key to our success all year, making sure everyone is getting ice time. A lot of it comes off-ice, making sure you are doing the right things like proper nutrition, getting the right sleep and taking care of your body.”

Players to watch on the Rebels are skaters like Kai Uchacz who lead his team with 25 points, and Jayden Grubbe who is second in team scoring with 24 points of his own.

Red Deer goaltender Kyle Kelsey should also be mentioned as he currently sits eighth in the entire CHL with a 2.11 goals against average and is 10th in save percentage with a .921.

If the Tigers are able to come out victorious in tonight’s contest they will move passed the Regina Pats to claim seventh in the Eastern Conference.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m. from the Peavey Mart Centrium, and you can hear all the action live on Wild 94.5 with voice of the Tigers Gino De Paoli.
