COALDALE, AB – Emergency crews responded to multiple reports of dogs attacking people in Coaldale.

Coaldale & District Municipal Enforcement (CDME) says there were two separate incidents on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

A spokesperson told LNN that the dogs escaped their home through a broken section of a fenced yard.

The first incident occurred at Jennie Emery Elementary School. A teacher and a parent were bitten while attempting to prevent the dogs from attacking students.

The second attack happened on the 2100 block of 9A Street. A delivery driver had to take refuge inside a vehicle to avoid being bit.

The extent of any injuries to the human victims was not stated.

The dogs were located at approximately 4:00 p.m. at their owners’ home.

CDME says they seized the animals and euthanized them with the cooperation of the owners.

“CDME wishes everybody impacted by this incident a quick recovery and recognizes how traumatic an incident like this can be,” reads a media release from CMDE. “If you or your children have been affected by this event and are feeling the effects of stress, please consider reaching out for mental health support.”

No penalties were issued to the owner of the dogs.
