MEDICINE HAT, AB – Not everyone can grow a mustache to support Movember, but how about drinking a beer?

The downtown brewery Travois Ale Work has created a special beer and will donate a portion of each sale to support men’s health through the Movember movement. Many other businesses quickly tapped into the idea.

“We did a whole batch which is 16 kegs and we thought that would be enough to get eight people kind of, or six to eight people on board, businesses, and give them two kegs,” says Travois co-owner Kris Trail. “And we ended up getting I think it’s about 11 businesses that hopped on board, a lot of them taking two kegs. But we sold the whole batch in minutes, like under five minutes. We had a lot of the businesses that we work together with jumped on board and took it.”

He describes the Movember Copper Ale as a light red beer, not hoppy, good for the palette and easy to drink. It’s available at close to a dozen businesses in Medicine Hat. People are encouraged to visit those establishments and fill out a Brews for Bros card that can win you a prize pack from even more businesses.

Trail says he and co-owner Chris Perret wanted to bring businesses together for the cause.

“Chris and I being men obviously that own it we’ve had friends that have been affected by Movember,” he explains. “It’s always important to try and give back, involve the community in any charitable aspect that we can. So for us, Movember was a perfect fit.”

The Travois Movember beer is available at Mainliner Pub, Silver Buckle, Whiskey District, Grit City Distillery, The Garage, Juggies Tap House & Grill, Casa Amigos, Travois Ale Works, Local Pub & Eatery, The North and Studio Fore.

Prizes for the Brews for Bros card were donated by Canadian Gun Hub, Medicine Hat News & Tobacco, Issacs Barber Shop, Studio Fore, Travois, Titanium Sign & Design Ltd., Grit City and Lucky’s Speed Sauce, with others joining daily.
