MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Furry Friends Food Foundation is hosting an event tomorrow for all community members to come out and assist in building winter-safe shelters for Medicine Hat’s feral cat population.

These shelters will be made out of donations like styrofoam coolers, plastic bins, straw and duct tape. Other items such as crock pots that can be used as heated water dishes will also be accepted.

Outside of things that you may have around the house, Furry Friends will be accepting both dry and wet cat food, and cash donations that will go to the Redcliff Community Caregivers to provide vet care for the feral cats.

President of Furry Friends Food foundation, Margaret Racz says to have these programs are not only important to her, but necessary in the community.

“We need to step up and start taking responsibility. So that’s where the building feral cats shelter comes in, That’s where the trap-nuder-release programs come in. Those programs are very necessary.”

The event will take place on Saturday at Crescent Heights High School from noon to 3 p.m.
