Search resumes for one-month old baby missing in river near Laval, Que. since Friday

Oct 30, 2022 | 9:45 AM

MONTREAL — Police say the search for a one-month old child missing in the water off the shore of Laval, Que., just north of Montreal, has entered its second full day.

The baby was in a vehicle with his mother and four-year-old sister when it plunged into the Mille Îles river shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday.

The woman, 40, remains hospitalized and unable to speak with investigators, while the girl was released from hospital Friday.

After pausing for the night, police began looking for the boy again today.

Provincial police divers and a helicopter joined the search on Saturday, along with local police and fire department nautical units.

Police are asking residents who live near the river to carry out checks around the banks as the current might have carried the baby’s body several kilometres from where the vehicle ended up in the water.
