Medicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers play the second of their back-to-back games at Co-Op place Saturday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Brandon currently sits in the number 5 spot in the eastern conference, holding a 6-4-1 record. They have been on the road since Oct. 10, this being their eighth game in 12 days.

The wheat kings have won five of the seven they have played so far, and are currently riding a two game win streak into The Hat Saturday night.

For The Tabbies this is the second of their five game home stand, and are currently riding a two game losing streak where they have been outscored 10-5.

Friday night at Co-Op Place was there last game against another conference opponent in the Red Deer Rebels, with a final score of 4-2 in favour of the away team.

Recent trade acquisition from the Portland Winterhawks, Kurtis Smythe is expected to make his Tigers debut in Saturday’s game.

Smythe has one point in six games played this season, and a total of thirty-one career WHL points.

Another unconfirmed debut to watch out for would be goaltender Evan May for the Tigers. Regular starter Beckett Langkow has played the last nine games straight for The Tabbies. If he were to start tonight it would be game number forty in the WHL for the 2003 born goaltender.

One player to pay attention to on the Wheat Kings is their Goaltender Carson Bjarnason, who currently hold a league leading .945 save percentage. Bjarnason has played in nine games so far this season for Brandon, and could easily be a difference maker in the contest Saturday.

Another surging member of the away side is forward Nate Danielson who is on a three game scoring streak, and has six total points in that time.

Players to watch out for Saturday on The Tigers are Bogdan Hodass who leads WHL defenceman with eleven points through his first eight games. As well rookie Caden Lindstrom who put up two goals in Friday nights contest against Red Deer, and five points in his last six games played.

When asked about if his team saw anything from Brandon in video that they are looking to focus on, Head Coach Willie Desjardins says it more comes down to how The Tabbies compete.

“It’s more our play, it’s still what we gotta do. We have been better this year, we have created more and we want to keep creating.

If attending the game tonight make sure to bring in a non-perishable food item to the Wild 94.5 booth at Co-Op place for the food drive.
