MEDICINE HAT, AB – Campaigning is well underway for candidates running in the upcoming byelection on Nov. 8.

Alberta Party Leader Barry Morishita has been door-knocking around Medicine Hat and attending different community events in the Brooks-Medicine Hat riding.

Morishita says so far he has attended a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters here in the Hat, as well he’s been to different community dinners in the rural areas of the riding.

He says he’s made door-knocking a priority, and the most prominent issues that are brought up by the people he speaks with are access to health care, affordability and having local representation in the riding.

Overall, Morishita says his campaign has been going well and feels good about the results he’s seen so far.

“I think there’s a lot of momentum, I think people want a change. They are tired of the politics of division, They are tired of the left versus the right,” he says. “They want their needs and their quality of life represented, and the Alberta Party does that. So I think if you want to send a message, look to vote for me and the Alberta Party.”

He plans to continue his campaign in Brooks this weekend, where he was mayor from 2016 until 2021.

Morishita is up against Premier Danielle Smith, NDP candidate Gwendoline Dirk, The Independence Party’s Bob Blayone and Jeevan Mangat of the Wildrose Independence Party of Alberta in the upcoming byelection.
