Community Foundation to award five Platinum Jubilee Medals, needs nominations

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta is turning to the public for help to recognize outstanding individuals in the community.

The CFSEA has been asked by the provincial government to award five Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medals to community members in southeastern Alberta. The medals are to honour the outstanding service of many Albertans who have dedicated themselves to the service of family, community and country, just like the Queen.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m. Individuals are not to know they are being nominated.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a medal the person must

  • be a Canadian citizen or has permanent resident status in Canada
  • have been alive on Feb. 6, 2022, and
  • have made a significant contribution to Canada or a particular region of Alberta, community or field.

This Jubilee year will see 7,000 Medals awarded to worthy recipients from across Alberta. Queen Elizabeth II died on Sept. 8 at the age of 96.
