MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat’s emergency preparedness was put to the test today following a fictional collision between an out-of-control semi-truck and a crude oil tanker in the Canadian Pacific Rail yard.

This mock training exercise saw firefighters, city staff and numerous partner agencies spring into action to contain the scene and establish an emergency operations centre.

The City of Medicine Hat’s director of emergency management Merrick Brown joined CHAT News to break down how the city stays prepared for anything. Again, this was a training exercise, not a real-life emergency.
