Technical rescue team training at Saamis Tepee this week

Oct 4, 2022 | 12:14 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Fire & Emergency Services technical rescue team will scale the Saamis Tepee on Friday.

The team will be taking part in training scenarios involving members of the advance response team climbing various parts of the tepee and lowering members to the ground. The training is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and run throughout the day.

The area will be open to the public during training with signs in place asking residents and visitors to stay clear of the immediate area where crews are training.

The technical rescue team is one of three advance response teams within Fire & Emergency Services. The team trains regularly and responds to incidents involving elevation rescues, both low and high angle, as well as confined space rescue.

Training scenarios were to take place early in September but were postponed.
