Council wants nominations for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat City Council is asking for nominations from citizens for the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.
The medal was created to mark the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the throne as Queen of Canada. The medal recognizes outstanding service from Albertans who have dedicated themselves to family, community, and country, just as Her Majesty did. There was an outpouring of emotion when she passed away earlier in September at age 96.
The mayor and council will submit the recommendation that one individual in Medicine Hat receive the Platinum Jubilee Medal and nominations from the community will be accepted to inform this decision.
“Medicine Hat is a city filled with people who meet the criteria for the Platinum Jubilee Medal,” said Mayor Linnsie Clark in a release. “With the recent passing of Her Majesty, these awards have taken on a special significance. We look forward to recognizing a very deserving individual on a provincial stage and celebrating their contributions to our community, and our province as a whole.”
