Tigers back in action for home opener Saturday

MEDICINE HAT, AB – After struggling through last season to a franchise-record low of just 11 wins, the Medicine Hat Tigers want to make a strong statement this season.

With a new campaign comes a fresh-faced team that wants to make last season a distant memory for themselves and their fans. As opening day draws closer the roster makeup is in its final stages.

Head coach and general manager Willie Desjardins says the coaching staff has a pretty good idea of what the roster will look like for Saturday’s season opener, but no final decisions will be made until after the skate on Friday.

Desjardins also talked about his excitement for the upcoming season having a clean slate to work with and leaving last season in his rearview.

“We want to be a playoff team, that’s our goal,” he says. “We want to contend every night. We want to get more consistency out of our lineup, we have stuff to prove. We wanna not only be a playoff team, but a championship team.”
