Power out for part of city, broken sewer in Irvine

Infrastructure failures in city and Irvine Wednesday

MEDICINE HAT, AB — It was lights out for people in a wide portion of southeast Medicine Hat early last evening.

The power went out in Southlands, Crestwood, Ross Glen and Dunmore areas, impacting over 6,200 customers.

Service was gradually restored, but the city hasn’t updated the cause of the outage.

In Irvine, residents are being asked to restrict their water usage as much as they can due to a broken sewer line.

The water is still safe to use but crews working to repair the sewer over the next two days would appreciate as little water going down the drain as possible.

Repairs are expected to take two days.
